We’re too small!  How can we participate?
You can partner with another firm in the same situation to form a team.  We've had multi-company teams in the past, and it's a GREAT way to develop a relationship with a firm that you may want to partner with for business opportunities.  If you need help finding another firm to partner with, let us know - we may be able to put you in touch with just the right people!

In addition, every Team must have an architect or an engineer mentoring them so if you are an architect or engineer looking to participate on your own we can help partner you up with a college, K-12 or community group team.

If you are an individual wishing to participate we can also help to partner you up with a team that needs additional team members.

How do we enter?
Visit our Enter a Team page, and complete the form.  Indicate what type of Team you are, and if you need us to help you find a professional mentor, or additional team members.  Pay the entry fee online with a credit card, or print the page and send it along with your check to the address on the form.

We’ve entered a Team … what do we do first?
Decide upon a design for your structure so that you know what color and size cans you will need.  Keep it simple!  As you look at photos of past participant's structures, you'll see that the prize winners have been structures that are very intricate and involved as well as those that are very simple and elegant.  Don't try to build the Taj Mahal for your first structure!  Design your first structure with simplicity in mind, and you'll find that by the end of the event that you'll have come up with many more intricate designs for next year!

How do we obtain cans and who pays for them?
Teams are responsible for obtaining all of the cans they will need to build their structure.  Cans can be obtained by holding a food drive within your organization or school, approaching grocery stores or food distributorships and asking for can donations, and soliciting cash donations from vendors you work with, friends and family to purchase the cans you need.  Tax deductible donations may be made to Canstruction® Long Island, Inc. on behalf of teams, but teams will have to purchase the cans they need and then submit their receipts for reimbursement from the donated funds.  Donors must also indicate which team they are supporting.
