Every act of kindness was special in its value.
How do we describe yesterday, "adopting a LTL family for a day?"
Humbled by everyone’s generosity and love. Love for willingness to do something, anything to make Roy, a brave 4.5 year old boy who is bravely fighting cancer, happy.
A run down of our special day orchestrated to play beautiful music…
Lunch at Chatanooga with friends, surprising them with broadway show tickets, painting at Muddworks with a Hebrew speaking mom, while the adults are having their relaxation moments. Dad is getting a haircut, Grandma getting hair color and mom is getting highlights and cut.
Ron finishes his artwork and off to get some icecream, while dad is off to his massage, as mom and grandma blow their hair and get make up done.
And then there was Zumba…A moment frozen in time. Along with more than 20 kids and over a dozen adults present, they DANCED and jumped and celebrated as if there was no tomorrow.
Thanks to Michelle Tabaroki at Confidanze in Great Neck, for creating that moment for Ron. A moment we witnessed when NOTHING else in the world mattered. This little boy was dancing joyously holding hands with complete strangers, like the siblings he never had, like the many cousins and friends we take for granted. The parents and grandma joined the party and was overwhelmed with joy and emotion. They were not alone yesterday.
Ron blew a candle, opened his many gifts and off to face painting and animal balloon with kids who warmed him with love and hugged him like a brother. The ladies ended their activities with a mani/pedi at a spa.
Last but not least, they drove to a warm home who hosted them for a delicious family dinner and kids played until they were ready to head back.
The outpouring of community support was overwhelming, thanks to the many number of volunteers who joined us on this day to take some part.
Late at night, a text came in from Ron’s father as he was driving his family back to NJ, that said:
“Absolutely amazing. Truly Larger Than Life. I’ll write more tomorrow.”
Undoubtedly speechless and overwhelmed; that pretty much summed it up in a few words!
Wishing all a happy holiday and a healthy everyday, and many miracles of joy; life is about these moments, and if you can bring joy to others, and a have a “feel good day” nothing else matters.
On behalf of all the volunteers of Larger Than Life, a huge THANK YOU to all who made this day magical for Ron and his family.
