The Leadership Journey

The Leadership Journey is a leadership development program designed to explore the territories of leadership through which all leaders must travel in order to grow to their full potential. It provides participants with insights, skills, and tools to safely navigate into the future…to become a more effective leader…to experience the importance of character in daily decision making…to make a difference in our world.

 

Key Content

Each module of the program takes participants on a virtual "journey of understanding" to a new destination in order to discover the underlying truths and practices that have set some men and women's leadership efforts apart. We use the natural wonders of the world as learning metaphors. The program analogies provide familiar reference points and easy associations for remembering key concepts.
For example:

  • We stop at the Great Pyramid in Egypt to uncover the secrets of lasting leadership.
  • We explore the walls of the Grand Canyon to learn about diversity and about bridging the canyons of misunderstanding that we so frequently encounter throughout life's journey.
  • We venture deep into the Amazon in search of the hidden secrets of teamwork.
  • We face the shifting sands of the Sahara to understand the dynamics of change.
  • We climb to the summit of Mount Everest to experience the power of a dream, of goals and of action plans for our jobs, our careers, and our lives.

Target Audience

The Leadership Journey is for all current and emerging leaders.

 

The Leadership Journey experience is designed to provide participants with:

  • New insights into the obligations, responsibilities and practices of positive leadership.
  • An appreciation for the vital link between values, character and leadership.
  • An increase awareness of their personal behavior patterns and preferences and how these patterns impact all interpersonal relationships.
  • Intensive 360 degree assessments of leadership strengths and areas for personal development.
  • New skills for interacting more effectively with others one-to-one and in a group.

The Leadership Journey differs from traditional leadership programs in the following ways.

  • It approaches learning as a process which occurs over time, rather than an "event"
  • It requires participants to engage in pre-session preparation including readings, interviews with heroic leaders, and assessment instruments designed to help them gain a deeper self-understanding.
  • It integrates both traditional and non-traditional learning techniques to provide a stimulating learning experience for all learning styles.
  • It involves participants in a variety of leadership simulations designed to help them practice leadership techniques and to receive immediate feedback from their peers and coach.
  • It links all learning with an action plan for personal and professional growth.
